This is a team of animal lovers. And this is a team of people lovers, too. We don’t come in to work to punch a clock. To us, caring for your pet the way we would care for our own is a calling. Now it’s time to meat the people by your side.

Shannon Sullenberger

Pet Resort Manager

I have utilized the boarding facility numerous times over the past 3 years. The staff is friendly and courteous. I own 4 American Bullies and they do a wonderful job with them. They treat my dogs as I would treat my dogs and that’s with the utmost love and care. The facility is immaculate. I have them wash my dogs and they do a superb job. I highly recommend them if you are looking for boarding and/or grooming. Utilizing their services is money well spent.
– James Cosby II

Shannon joined the practice in 2012. Shannon has 8 years experience in the pet care industry. Prior to joining our team she was general manager of Pet Suites of Dayton. She originally started at their Cincinnati location, but transferred to Dayton in 2008 to launch their facility near the Dayton Mall. Her responsibilities in Dayton included managing a staff of 45, customer relations, marketing, strategic planning and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility. Her job keeps her busy but she still finds time to stop and say hello and have a chat with the clients and pets waiting in our lobby. Shannon has done so much to overhaul and improve the lodging services and facility and she has done an amazing job! We wouldn’t be where we are today without her. Shannon keeps us motivated and moving and is a wonderful part our our amazing managerial system. Shannon has a 3 year old son, 4 dogs, 1 cat, and multiple horses. She and her husband run a horse boarding and training facility.

Ben Spinks, CVPM

Hospital Administrator

Ben Spinks temporarily (or so he thought) entered the veterinary industry in his current capacity in 2004. He planned on helping a veterinary practice “run some numbers” over the summer to delay his inevitable entry into the corporate world. That one summer stretched longer than he anticipated, and he’s been the Hospital Administrator of Tipp City Veterinary Hospital ever since.

Outside of his role at TCVH, Ben helps other businesses run more efficiently (Branchworth) and helps companies in the veterinary industry communicate effectively using video (Veteos).

Ben is a 2004 graduate of Miami University (B.Phil.), a 2014 graduate of Wright State University (MBA), and a 2021 graduate of University of East London (PgCert Applied Positive Psychology & Coaching Psychology). He became CVPM certified through the VHMA in 2013 and SPHR certified through HRCI in 2018. He lives in Tipp City, Ohio with his doodle, Finn, and his thoughtful cat, Oscar. And, most importantly, his favorite color is blue.

  • Certified Veterinary Practice Manager from VHMA (2013)
  • Masters of Business Administration from Wright State University (2014)

  • Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (2018)
  • PgCert Applied Positive Psychology & Coaching Psychology from University of East London (2021)

Q&A with Ben Spinks

Q: What part of your job to you find to be most interesting?
A: I love the variety of things that I’m able to work on. From coaching our staff and developing system to wrangling IT issues and putting out occasional fires – there is never a dull day at TCVH! I love that new initiatives can move quickly from the planning stages to full implementation.

Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love being able to work with a team that’s passionate about the work. Across all levels of our practice – from our DVM’s and Vet Techs to our CSR’s and Lodging Team – almost everyone could make more money working in other industries. Our DVM’s could have chosen human medicine, our Vet Techs could be nurses or Physicals Assistants, etc. Our team is here because they love the industry – it’s more than just a paycheck. That’s not something that you find everywhere. One other thing I love is being able to bring my dogs to work with me everyday. It’s hard to get stressed out or have a bad day when their around. : )

Q: What causes or organizations are you passionate about?
A: Within the veterinary industry, the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association (VHMA) in really high on my list. I’ve benefited tremendously from my involvement in the organization. Their meetings are great and I’ve been able to greatly expand my professional network. Outside of the vet industry, I love being involved with Pink Ribbon Girls. They’ve been a consulting client for a number of years and I’ve really enjoyed seeing them grow and help so many people along the way.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A: I love to travel! Top destinations on my list right now include: Iceland, New Zealand, Japan and Norway.

Q: If you only had one favorite food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Chicken Pad Thai!
