Training Classes

Puppy Kindergarten – 11 weeks to 6 months

This 6-week course will shine a new light on fun and innovative ways to connect and clearly communicate with your puppy.  Foundational behaviors such as Sit, Stay, Down, Come, Get-it, Drop-it and Leave-it will be taught.  As well as, Functional life skills such as polite leash walking, appropriate greetings and building attention.  Help your puppy get off on the right paw by learning how to prevent and problem-solve common behavioral issues. This class will give you the tools needed to help shape them into a well-rounded member of your forever family. $120

 

Vaccine Requirements: Puppies may start classes 7 days after having their first DHPP and Bordatella vaccinations administered by a Veterinarian. A DHPP or DHLPP booster is required every 3 weeks thereafter until the vaccination series is fulfilled and a Rabies vaccination when of age.

Canine Good Citizen class ***Prerequisite-Must have attended any basic obedience class to enroll ***

Wednesday, January 2nd-February 6th  **Now accepting registrations!

Class Time: 6:00p.m.-7:00p.m.

This is such a fun class that will help your dog become a rockstar in social situations out in the real world.  Each week we will work on the individual criteria needed for each individual test. Here is a list of what the class will cover: Accepting a friendly stranger, Sitting politely for petting, Appearance & Grooming, Out for a Walk, Walking through a crowd, Sit and Down on Command and Staying in place, Coming when called, Reaction to Distractions, Reaction to another dog and Supervised Separation. Week 6 you and your canine companion will take the test to become Canine Good Citizen Certified!    $130

Ribbons will be awarded to those who become Certified!

Adolescence and Beyond

Growing up can be hard to do and this 6-week course will help you navigate through these stages in their development. Furthering behaviors such as Sit, Stay, Down, Come, Get it, Drop it and Leave-it will be refined.  As well as, Functional life skills such as polite leash walking, appropriate greetings and building attention. We will work through reactions to distractions and problem-solve common behavioral issues in adolescence.  Discover new and exciting ways to motivate and better understand your lifelong companion. $120 

***Please note if your dog is reactive (barks or growls) towards dogs or people, please contact Tara directly at 937-231-9840***

Vaccine Requirements: DHLPP booster within the last year or 3 years depending on the type of vaccination given and the age of the pet. A Bordatella vaccination within the last year and must be current on Rabies vaccination.

Refund & cancellation policy: No refunds will be given after the first class begins. If you wish to cancel class, you must give 72 hours notice prior to the start date of your class or you will be charged for the entire amount.

Tara graduated with Honors from Columbus State in 2007 as a Registered Veterinary Technician. She is knowledgeable and skilled in meeting both the medical and behavioral needs of animals. Tara specializes in Behavior Modification and she provides in-clinic and in-home behavior consultations to address each animals individual needs. She teaches multiple levels of obedience training classes and also offers private in-home obedience training.  Tara is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer by The Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers.  She also graduated from the Karen Pryor Academy for animal behavior and training and is a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner! She is a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator for the AKC and has completed her certification to become a Fear Free Certified Professional in the veterinary field.

 

Tara has dedicated her life to help save animals by giving them a voice that is often misunderstood. She says, “Helping people help their pets is more then just a passion, it’s my life.” 

 

She loves to learn and values continuing education by attending annual conferences and seminars. She is a member of the Society of Behavior Technicians, Ohio Association of Veterinary Technicians and a professional member of The Association of Professional Dog Trainers. Tara also enjoys teaching at schools and organizations about animal health & safety and behavior & training.

Our cat Gandalf has been given the best treatment at the facility. The service for his teeth pulling and grooming was top notch. and the facility was clean and welcoming. it is a pleasure to work with the staff at this Vet hospital.

This has been the best place ever. They helped us through some very trying time because all kinds of allergies, ears feet, skin. Through it all he has been happy and now 11.Can not thank them enough.

Clean, friendly and I was immediately welcomed. All interactions with "Pumpkin" were sincere and loving . All seem to enjoy their jobs. Sensitive to my pet's needs. First time boarding at 5 years old. Did well.
