Why should I choose Tipp City Veterinary Hospital for my pet’s knee surgery?
Quality – We provide excellent veterinary care. Dr. Jacob has extensive training and experience. He has traveled all over the country for continued education and wet lab training. He continues to improve his techniques by applying what he learns and educating his team on each procedure.
Safety – Safety for your pet is our top priority. We do everything possible to keep your pet safe, prevent infections, and get them back to normal as soon as possible. This includes safety measures before, during, and after the procedures.

Timing – Most specialty centers take weeks to get a consultation and their surgery schedules book out for 4 to 6 weeks. We are able to see a patient within 1 to 4 days for an exam and typically perform the surgery within 1 to 3 weeks. Timing is important to help reduce arthritis accumulation and allow your pet to be more comfortable. If your pet’s leg is stabilized within 4-6 weeks of the injury there shouldn’t be any noticeable arthritis accumulation and the long term outcome is better.
Platelet Rich Plasma – Platelet-rich plasma therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that harnesses and amplifies the natural growth factors found in blood. We administer an injection of platelet rich plasma in every TPLO we perform. This helps speed up the healing process and reduces pain. This typically costs an extra ($800-1500) but we feel it is very important and decided to include it in our price. This separates us from many other surgical facilities that perform TPLOs.
Outcomes – Our patients enjoy very good outcomes. We typically get back to normal function within 8 weeks with many patients moving normal sooner. The combination of quality, safety, a timely procedure, and some of the extras like platelet rich plasma provide a speedy recovery and excellent return to function in your pet. Our goal is to get them back to doing what they love to do (running, jumping, and playing)!
